BVBL SPRING MADNESS!

Inagural BVBL Spring Tourny In The Books

The Jackwagon Athletic Club carries the day at 5-0

Jackwagon Athletic Club 49, 508 Athletics 39
As both teams entered this 5th game of the day it was a question of whether 508 Athletics could use their youth and athleticism to get by the crafty JAC vets. The JAC used a big second half from Ryan Cain (13 points) to extend a 2 point halftime lead into a 10 point victory in the finals. Irving Eggleston had 11 for 508. The JAC ends the day at 5-0, while 508 ends it 3-2.
 
Semi Finals:
508 Athletics (Wild Card) 67, Da Bears (A Winner) 62
508 Athletics avenged their loss earlier in the day- weathering a lot of offense from Mike Balderelli (15 points) and Corey Conner (20 points). Jared Thompson paced 508 with 20, while Jessy Michaud added 17.
 
Jackwagon Athletic Club 53 (B Winner), Lowell (C Winner) 49
Despite an impressive shooting display from Phil Connors (22 points) and the solid inside play of Nate Simpson- the JAC pulled it out behind 18 from Ryan Cain and 10 from Zach Valliere. Ryan Flynn continued to control the action from the point guard slot.
 
Group C Play:
Infantry 60, Whitewater 49
Luke Brownell had 17 points to pace Infantry and Mike Perrault kicked in 12 as they held off a latge charge from Matt Gustus (10 points) and Whitewater 60-49
 
Lowell 56, TC Performance 44
Lowell used the inside out combo of Nate Simpson and David Brown to hold off TC Performance who were paced by Terrell Newton with 19.
 
Lowell 47, Infantry 41
Lowell used tight defense and the offense of Phil Connors (11) and Nate Simpson (12) to hold off Infantry. Mike Perrault got loose for 11 for Infantry while Jon Snediker kicked in 9.
 
Whitewater 64, TC Peformance 62
Colin London had 25 for TC Performance and Lloyd Kennedy added 16 but the depth of Whitewater allowed them to sneak away late. Sam Musler paced Whitewater with 24 and Matt Gustus (spelled correctly) kicked in 18.
 
TC Peformance 59, Infantry 57
A late defensive stand by TC Performance eliminated Infantry in one of the final games of group play. Tom Casey (15 points) paced the TC squad from the perimeter while Terrell Newton had 19 going to the rim. Infantry's balanced attack saw contributions from Brownell and Perrault.
 
Lowell 71, Whitewater 67 (OT)
In a win or go home game- Lowell held off Whitewater behind 16 from David Brown and 18 from Nate Simpson. Sam Musler continued his torid scoring for Whitewater with 25. Bobby Scribner kicked in 13. Lowell advadnced to the semis as the group winner.
 
Group B Results

Birdmen 58, Madmen 49
The Birdmen used a late first half run to create space and run away with it against the Madmen. Sam Fanfan, Jay Snow and Niko Bryant provided the firepower for The Birdmen. While Corey Sklarz kept the Madmen close early.
 
Jackwagon Athletic Club 59, Team Hurt Feelings 42
Big Zach Valliere had 18 and Ryan Flynn (9) and Randy Casey (11) paced JAC in their early victory over Team Hurt Feelings. The Feelings gang was paced by Mark Kruger with 19 and Kyle Minton with 9.
 
Birdmen 72, Team Hurt Feelings 65
Sam Fanfan had 28, while Niko Bryant chipped in 17 as The Birdmen advanced to 2-0. Cody Stone lead the way for Team Hurt Feelings with 18 while Mark Kruger added 10.
 
Jackwagon Athletic Club 59, Madmen 49
The Madmen were on fire early. Bobby Chalmers had 12 and Dave Farrer added 9 as they raced to an early. However the JAC got 21 from Ryan Cain and 13 from Ryan Flynn. 
 
Madmen 67, Team Hurt Feelings 65
Kyle Minton had 27 for Team Hurt Feelings but Corey Sklarz answered right back with 21 for The Madmen as they held on for the 2 point victory. Bobby Chalmers added 17 for the Madmen while Mark Kruger kicked in 18 for Hurt Feelings.
 
Jackwagon Athletic Club 65, Birdmen 63
The Birdmen used hot shooting to extend a 32-26 halftime lead to as many as 13 in the second half before the JAC stormed back behind the defense and offense of Ryan Flynn (23 points). Zach Valliere chipped in 13 and Jimmy Marois added 11 including the game winning layup. The Birdmen rode the hot hands of Jay Snow, Jeremy Bridge and Sam Fanfan and concluded the day with a 2-1 record. JAC advanced as the Pool B winner.
 
Pool A
Da Bears 66, 508 Athletics 61
Da Bears got 21 from Mike Balderelli and 15 from Corey Connor and held off Jared Thompson (16) and Jessy Michaud (16) and 508 in the opening game of the tournament.
 
Wet Bandits 66, Wyven Nation 65
Dave Douiliette had 18 in his return to the BVBL and Mike Salis added 9 as the Bandits held off Bilal Shakir (19 points) and Wyvern Nation
 
Da Bears 63, Wyvern Nation 60
Mike Balderelli (19 points) lead the charge as Da Bears held off Wyvern Nation in another close game. Bilal Shakir had 25 for Wyvern Nation.
 
508 Athletics 68, Wet Bandits 63
508 Got 16 from Jared Thompson and 15 from Jessy Michaud and held off the Wet Bandits for their first victory in Group A. Mike Salis had 17 for the Bandits while Dave Douilette had 15.
 
Da Bears 68, Wet Bandits 52
Da Bears balanced attack of Johnson, Connor and Balderelli put away the Wet Bandits who got 12 from Mike Salis and 10 from Justin Aldrich.
 
508 Athletics 61, Wyvern Nation 57
Irving Eggleston had 22 and Jessy Michaud had 24 as 508 Athletic punched thier ticket to the playoffs as the wildcard. Bilal Shakir had 16 for the Wyvern squad who played 3 close games and were the tough luck losers in all 3.
